New backpacks.

New teachers.

New routines.

And maybe… a new home?

Back-to-school season always brings a fresh wave of energy and momentum to Southwest Florida. It’s a time when many families begin thinking about what’s next on the horizon.

For some, that means finding a layout with a little more elbow room, shortening the morning school drop-off commute, downsizing after the last nestling moves out to college, or making the big move down to sunny SWFL. Evaluating local schools is just as important as inspecting the roof or floorplan. When touring homes, keep these questions in mind:

School transportation is important to consider when choosing a location for your next future home

Zoning & Bus Routes

  • Exact Assignment: Is this address guaranteed entry to the target school, or does the district use a choice/lottery system?

  • Commute & Busing: Is district bus transportation provided here, and do school hours fit your work schedule?

  • Future Boundaries: Are there planned redistricting changes or new schools opening soon that could alter assignments?

Academics & Support

  • Specialized Tracks: Does the school offer AP, IB, Dual Enrollment, gifted, or STEM programs?

  • Class Sizes: What are the average class sizes and student-to-teacher ratios?

  • Individualized Care: What resources exist for special education (IEP/504) or English language learners?

Campus Life & Aftercare

  • Programs: Are sports, performing arts, and extracurricular clubs well-funded?

  • Extended Care: Does the school offer reliable before- and after-school care on campus?

  • Parent Involvement: Is there an active PTO/PTA community?

If a move is anywhere on your "next chapter" list, I’m always here as a friendly local resource — no pressure, no sales pitch, just real honest guidance.
